About

Since 2014, BSU Moot Court Society provides law students with the opportunity to perform in environments simulating court, arbitration, and mediation proceedings, as well as to develop their negotiation and contract drafting skills. To this end, the Society organizes the Topchubashov Moot Court Competition, the Topchubashov Arbitration Moot, the Khoyski Mediation Competition, and the Aghaoghlu Negotiation and Contract Drafting Competition, all conducted in accordance with international practices. Within the framework of these competitions, comprehensive trainings are held for participants, covering a wide spectrum from advocacy skills and strategic preparation to ethical considerations and the construction of logical arguments.

Legal argumentation

The competitions organized by the Moot Court Society enable students to exercise logical reasoning and systematically substantiate their legal positions.

Legal analysis

Throughout the competitions, students resolve legal issues by prioritizing legal analysis, scrutinizing facts to integrate them into a legal framework, and deriving reasoned conclusions.

Legal writing

The written stages of the competitions, contract drafting, and blog authoring facilitate the development and practical application of students' legal writing skills.

Most of the competition phases, including the drafting of problems, the delivery of trainings, and the evaluation of teams, are conducted in collaboration with legal professionals. Furthermore, to facilitate student participation in the international legal arena, the Society organizes the internal selection rounds for the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and the Intellectual Property Moot Court Competition. Additionally, the Society prepares and publishes analytical and practical blog posts across various legal disciplines on its official website. The Society’s board plays a pivotal role in the organization and coordination of these activities.
